Virtual Perspective - v0.2.3 (v5)

Here is the patch notes for this build:

Added

  • Tutorial / Guide - After completing a level and returning to the Hub World, the game now indicates which door has been unlocked.
  • Tutorial / Guide - Approaching a Level Gate now displays the corresponding level.
  • Pause Menu - The pause menu now displays your current level.
  • Player - You can now sprint by holding Shift, moving slightly faster than walking.
  • Player - Interactable assets can now be clicked, providing feedback on requirements and other dynamic interactions
  • Focus Mode - Focus Mode now includes visual changes like bloom and lens flare, along with a sound effect to indicate activation.
  • Power Cell - When a Power Cell is destroyed, it will trigger a particle effect and briefly adjust the player’s field of view to provide clear visual feedback of its destruction. It will also stop input for 0.05 seconds to prevent any quick whiplash.
  • Levels - A simple fade to black transition in and out between the Hub World and Levels.
  • Sounds - Original Virtual Perspective sound effects have been added to various interactable objects and environments.
  • Music - Original Virtual Perspective OST “Virtual Complex” has been added to the Main Menu and Hub World 1.
  • Music - Original Virtual Perspective OST “Virtual Perspective - Ambient Backing” has been added to the levels. This track is mixed with another ambience track.
  • Mouse Sensitivity - Lowered overall sensitivity and added the option for players to reduce it further by using scroll wheel up and down.
  • Respawn Box - A collision box has been added below each level to catch players who fall off the map, automatically restarting the level if triggered.

Fixed

  • Power Cell - A bug was found where the Power Cell could duplicate in Level 5.
  • Power Cell - Fixed collisions to prevent the player jumping on the Power Cell.
  • Rotating Killwall Cylinder - Fixed particle effect not playing when a Power Cell is destroyed on it.

Changed

  • Hub World 1 - Completely overhauled the level design and visual appearance with the usage of trimsheets and textures. This hub world only features 5 selected levels to be played.
  • Main Menu / Pause Menu - Made the UI look visually better and more practical for the use case of this Itch Build.
  • Levels -
  • Rotating Killwall Cylinder - This particular Killwalls now play a sound to indicate their constant rotation.
  • Phase Walls - Clicking on the Phase Wall (with the cursor) spawns particles and a sound effect. If the player walks into it, it only plays a sound effect.
  • Switches - Moving Power Cells to switches now provides feedback to indicate successful interaction
  • Cell Collector - Power Cells are now fed automatically, removing the need to drop them manually.
  • Cube - Completely changed the behaviour of the Cube as well as its functionality. Players cannot take it with them through Phase Walls anymore. Putting a Power Cell on a Cube does not despawn the Power Cell anymore.
  • Pressure Plate - Changed sound effects.
  • Environment - Levels with windows now feature a subtle white glow to indicate they are see-through.

We’re steadily working on the next update, which will fix numerous bugs, including a major one that prevents the game from loading into the next level or returning to the hub world.
